The National Center for Hydrology Meteorology Forecasting reported that a cold wave will hit the Northeastern and North-Central regions from tonight or tomorrow.
Elderly persons are more vulnerable to the cold when a cold wave hit Vietnam’s northern provinces. Cold weather has driven elderly adults to hospitals.
An ongoing cold wave compressing a low-pressure trough has caused medium- heavy downpours and thunderstorms in the Northern and North-Central provinces from last night.
The Northern provinces and cities are warned to be much cooler than the same period in 2019 in Lunar New Year’s days as a cold air mass is gradually moving to the Northern region.
According to the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center, the Southern region continues to see bad weather condition with large-scale downpours and sustained winds in the next several days.
The National Center for Hydro Meteorological Forecasting warned a cold wave spread over the north central region and is predicted to hit the central central region in the next two days.
Tomorrow September 7, a cold wave is forecast to hit the northern mountainous region then being spread out to the north central region and several areas cross the central central region, said the National Center for Hydro Meteorological Forecasting this morning.
The center forecast a cold wave will arrive in Vietnam and become the first north east monsoon in this year’s autumn-winter which falls on September 7 to 8.
