Airports pilot e-ID account for passengers from June 1

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) announced that electronic identification account (e-ID account) at level 2 associated with passenger biometric authentication will be piloted in airports nationwide from June 1 to August 1.
The police are collecting necessary information to issue a chip-based citizen ID card for citizens and to create a respective e-ID account.

E-ID account officially comes into effect

The Police Department for Administrative Management of Social Order (C06) under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) informed that Decree No.59/2020/ND-CP by the Government has come into effect since October 20, 2022. From now on, people can use their electronic identification account (e-ID account) via the app VNeID to replace their chip-based citizen ID card in administrative procedures and civil transactions.

Citizens to use e-ID account, chip-based ID card for administrative procedures

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) plans that from the end of this February, citizens nationwide when registering for their chip-based ID card can also sign up for an e-identification account. This account is expected to greatly accelerate administrative processes as it has necessary authentic personal legal documents integrated in one place.
