Vietnam hopes to export one million tons of cement this year, Nguyen Ngoc Anh, general director of the Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem), has said.

After many years of shortage, there is a surplus now, he said.
Therefore, it is essential to export some of it to develop the sector, he said.
There are 97 cement plants in the country with a total capacity of 57.4 million tons.
A further 13, with a capacity of 11.7 million tons, are expected to go on stream this year, he said, leaving a surplus of 2 million tons.
