Ms. Punnapa Onsarn, project manager of the Thai company, told Tuesday’s press briefing in HCM City that 168 companies from 20 countries and territories would join ProPak as exhibitors.

Bangkok Exhibition Services Ltd. managing director David Aitken said Plastics & Rubber would receive 205 exhibitors from 21 countries and territories.

VietCham Expo director Bui Thi Thuc Anh said ProPak and Plastics & Rubber are Vietnam’s largest exhibitions in the industries, held every two years.

She said Vietnam has currently about 2,000 operational plastics companies, including 702 manufacturers of plastic packages. She said that industry experts believe the packaging sector would see growths higher 25-30% in the years to come.

ProPak Vietnam 2010 is the 5th edition of Asia’s leading processing, filling and packaging exhibition for Vietnam’s rapidly expanding manufacturing sectors for food, pharmaceutical, beverage, cosmetic, industrial and general consumer products, according to the organizers.

According to David Aitken, more exhibitors and visitors involved in the processing, filling and packaging industry are registering for this year’s event as they see ProPak Vietnam a promising platform for technology sourcing, knowledge sharing and networking.

He said Plastics & Rubber meanwhile is meant to explore the best in technology, innovations, state-of-the-art machinery and processing solutions for plastic and rubber that benefit diverse industries from aerospace, automotive, precision engineering, electrical and electronics, furniture to medical and healthcare.

Vietnam’s food manufacturing and export sectors are growing rapidly in the past couple of years, especially in areas such as seafood, frozen products and beverages, and this encourages a huge demand for processing, filling and packaging solutions, he said.

Mr. Aitken said more than 8,000 business visitors were expected to come to the shows.

VietCham Expo director Bui Thi Thuc Anh said the two shows’ exhibitors would cover almost 9,000 square meters of the venue.

The international exhibitors are from Germany, Italy, France, Britain, the US, Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand and elsewhere, according to the exhibition organizers.
