The annual event was co-organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Vietnamese Women’s Union to encourage and recognize women entrepreneurs who have performed well and contributed to the country’s socioeconomic development.
VCCI chairman Vu Tien Loc, currently head of the award’s presentation board, said that the number of women entrepreneurs accounted to 20 percent of the country’s total businesspeople. Their businesses covered trade, services, production, agricultural and seafood processing.
There are more than 100,000 businesses managed by women in the country today.
