So far there has been an upward trend of Zika cases in 36 nations and territories with 31 of them recorded cases of Zine within past two months.

Worse, some countries also reported entry of the fatal virus from passengers traveling from virus-hit areas. Noticeably, on February 10, the Committee of Medicine and Family Planning in China announced the first case of Zika who returned the country after going to  Venezuela, where Zika is circulating. The patient is being quarantined in a hospital for treatment.

Vietnamese MInistry of Health confirmed that the country has no case of Zika yet it is highly likely that the virus will enter the country; therefore, health authority asked all medical force in border crossings and airports to increase supervision of passengers who come to Vietnam from virus hit areas. Medical workers are ready to treat patients with Zika virus. Some scenarios were outlined if the first case would be reported.

Zika is a disease caused by Zika virus that is spread to people primarily through the bite of an infected Aedes species mosquito. The most common symptoms of Zika are fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis (red eyes), said Deputy Health Minister Dr. Nguyen Thi Xuyen .  She added that the illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting for several days to a week. People rarely die of the virus. However, pregnant women will give birth babies with microcephaly which caused concern for medical experts as there has been no medicine for the virus.
