Over 20,000 Vietnamese people catch dengue fever

The World Health Organization estimated around 100 million people having dengue fever yearly, said Professor Tran Dac Phu, head of the Preventive Medicine Department under the Ministry of Health yesterday at an event  to support ASEAN Dengue Day.

In reality, the number of infection case is more than 100 million because supervision system does not work well to assess the burden of eh disease.

Since 2015, the country has more than 20,000 cases of dengue fever infections. South and Central provinces including Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Ba Ria-Vung Tau are hot spots of the disease.

The Preventive Medicine Department warned that the disease will develop complicatedly in 2015 and an outbreak is possible to occur if there has not been timely prevention.
