Addressing a ceremony to announce the policy, which is designed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said that it will help unite the people and protect the national interest.

The DKKA can be a reference for many issues related in security and public order, while supplementing the national security policies, especially when Malaysia is facing complicated security threats.

Home Affairs secretary-general Tan Sri Alwi Ibrahim said the six core areas of the policy were to uphold the constitutional dignity, the rule of law and the country’s key institutions; to enhance the governance and integrity of security enforcement agencies; to strengthen security and border controls; to secure public safety and security; to combat the abuse of drugs; and to protect the country’s assets and targets.

The KDN needs support and collaboration across the ministry and outside the ministry so that it can have the best impact on security, he said, adding that the DKKA was not only the responsibility of the enforcement agency but also of the community.
