Children Hospital No.1 in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday said it is treating the Cambodian boy who fell down while was climbing tree; consequently, his thighbone and pelvis were fractured and his head injured.
However, Cambodian hospital where the boy was taken first had wrongly treated therefore he suffered kidney failure, said hospital deputy director Le Bich Lien.
Seeing that the boy’s live was threatened, his parents took him to Vietnam for treatment in the Children Hospital No. 1 where doctors diagnosed that the boy had acute renal failure and organ injuries. The boy was undergoing renal dialysis soon.
After 14 days of putting on dialysis, the boy’s condition was improved; he could urinate.
Dr. Dang Thanh Tuan said that for 20 years working, this is the first case he has known. Renal failure was caused by depression in calf leading to muscle necrosis.
After two weeks, the boy escaped death thanks to Vietnamese doctors efforts yet he still suffered renal failure.
Surgeons will perform an operation on him to correct fracture when his kidney function works normally.
