The activity is a part of the hospital’s healthcare program.
According to the Global Cancer Observatory (GCO), an interactive web-based platform presenting global cancer statistics to inform cancer control and research, among females, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer death with 1.7 million fresh infection cases, followed by colorectal and lung cancer (for incidence), and vice versa (for mortality); cervical cancer ranks fourth for both incidence and mortality.
Also Globalcancermap released that in 2000, Vietnam had 5,536 fresh cases yet ten years later, in 2010, the number of fresh cases statistically doubled to 12,533 cases. Vietnam has a significantly low age-standardized incidence rate for breast cancer at 29.9 per 100,000 women and 64.7 percent of them are below 50 years old.
With increase in cancer patients like present, breast cancer incidence is projected to rise to over 22,612 cases by 2020. However, more than 80 percent of breast cancer can be cured if they are detected in a very early stage of the disease. Accordingly, the program encourages the participation of women at the age of 40 up and those who have relative suffering breast cancer.
The program will take place on Saturdays ( October 13, 20, 27 and November 3). Venue is the Tumor Hospital’s Hi-tech treatment ward at 47 Nguyen Huy Luong, ward 14, Binh Thanh District. Patients can register via hotline 0938049605 before October 12.
In related news, the hospital will organize a talk on October 18 to exchange knowledge and experience during treatment procedure to help people understand more about the disease.
