The Ministry of Health May 22 warned about the possible spread of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome caused by the Corona virus, or MERS-CoV, adding that people should avoid contact with infected people.

It is a very dangerous disease, it said, and people should wear a medical mask when coming in contact with ill people and maintain personal hygiene by regularly washing hands with soap.

Infected people should cover their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, it said.

Doors and windows should be opened to let air in and out of houses and other buildings. People going in and out of affected countries should pay careful heed to preventive measures, it said.

The World Health Organization’s latest report said that MERS-CoV has spread to 17 countries, infecting 536 people and killing 150. The ministry ordered disease quarantine units at borders to carefully monitor people coming from affected places by measuring their body temperature.
