Before, their mother from the central province of Quang Nam was diagnosed to have conjoined twins who are sharing a liver by Tu Du Maternity Hospital.
She was kept under special care in the hospital during pregnancy.
Newborn girls weighing 7.9 kilogram were born by emergency c-section on August 23. They were soon rushed to the Children Hospital for testing which showed that they were sharing a liver. They underwent a four-hour operation October 2.
The procedure, which required 28 doctors and nurses, divided their shared liver and reconstructed their abdomens.
The two babies are in stable condition now.
