Vietnam International Bank has recently signed an agreement to provide US$48 million to Vietnam Airlines for purchase of Airbus A321 aircrafts from the French Airbus Company in installments over a period of ten years.

This is part of an ongoing development plan to upgrade the current fleet of Vietnam Airlines, for the national carrier to expand on more domestic and international flight routes.

Pham Ngoc Minh, CEO of Vietnam Airlines, said that in context of the present economic crisis, there is fierce competition among financial and credit institutions, and the fact that Vietnam International Bank was able to offer financial support to the carrier shows the credibility of both the parties.
