Doctor may recommend brain surgery to treat epilepsy because she has seizures that medications cannot control. The woman has had epilepsy fits at the age of 15 with 4-6 fits per month.
A fit lasts 5-7 minutes or one hour, according to her.
Head of the Nerve Department physician Pham Anh Tuan said because medication can’t control her epilepsy fits; consequently, surgeons carried out MIR to verify her epilepsy kinds and to learn where seizures occur in her brain before conducting the operation.
After a meeting with French and Malaysian experts, surgeons decided to use resective surgery to remove the small part of her brain where seizures happen.
After the surgery, the woman has no more had epilepsy fits and the operation has not left bad consequence on her vision and brain.
