Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on January 2 signed off the Politburo’s Resolution No 31-NQ/TW on orientations and tasks for the development of HCMC by 2030, with a vision to 2045.
A conference on reviewing two years of implementing the cooperation agreement on tourism development in the Southeastern region in the 2020-2025 period and releasing an agreement in 2023 was held in Dong Xoai City in Binh Phuoc Province on November 29.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stressed the need to take a joint mechanism managing the development of the southeastern region and the southern key economic region in general while chairing a conference in Ho Chi Minh City on July 9.
The Southeastern region is home to many industrial parks, Long Thanh International Airport project and crowded residential areas with fast economic growth. That has made a request to develop a modern traffic network to connect localities in the region, boost goods trade and meet residents’ travel demand.
Torrid weather condition is forecast to occur and trigger drought and water shortage in Central provinces namely Thanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan and provinces in the Central Highlands and the Southeastern region from March to May, said Mr. Vu Duc Long, deputy director of the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting yesterday.
Inappropriate investment in traffic infrastructure has hindered economic development in the southeastern region, where has contributed nearly 40 percent to state budget.
