Pham Quang Ngu, deputy director of Phuoc Son Gold Company under the Besra Gold Inc., on December 27 sent a document to the People’s Committee of Quang Nam Province and relevant authorities, saying that the company was shutting down as hundreds of local residents blocked the way to its factory.
According to the company, at 8.30am on December 26, around 50 people, including representatives of Quang An Company, long-standing contractor and transporter of Phuoc Son Gold Company, workers, and small food vendors, have blocked Dak Sa Gold Factory with motorbikes, cars, trucks and bulldozers to prevent anyone from leaving the factory because the company still owes them millions of dollars for all kind of expenses.
The company’s creditors asked it to pay its debts immediately or they will seize all available assets in the factory.
The company said in the report that the action of its creditors was illegal and affected directly to its operations. Therefore, it announced that it will temporarily shut down the factory.
On December 27, the People’s Committee of Phuoc Son District ordered local residents not to disturb public order and security and to let authorities help them to claim their debts. Local authority also asked Quang An Company to move their vehicles out of Phuoc Son Gold Company’s property and requested local police to maintain security.
