Unusually good weather led to bumper crops of peach blossoms and mandarins this season, which has subsequently led to the plunge in prices as farmers scramble to offload their trees.

At Me So, a famous mandarin orange tree-growing village in Hung Yen, trees are now selling for VND80,000-150,000 while last year they were selling for VND200,000-300,000.

Hung Yen and Hai Duong provinces alone have about 600 hectares of peach blossom and mandarin orange trees which are cultivated for Tet.
