A flexible catheter used for women will help women with blocked fallopian tube get pregnant without undergoing in vitro fertilization , said Deputy Health Minister Professor Nguyen Viet Tien.
The new technique was deployed successfully by a group of experts led by Deputy Health Minister cum director of the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Genecology.
Professor Tien said that women with blocked fallopian tube normally undergo in vitro fertilization; however, some people can’t afford in vitro fertilization and the success rate is low if egg quality is not as good as required.
The new technique, applied in Vietnam for the first time, will help sterile women become mother with inexpensive cost, he said.
Moreover, the technique can be transferred to other medical clinics to treat female with blocked fallopian tube to get pregnant naturally.
As per the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Genecology’s statistics, the number of infertile couples increased and half of them are caused by wives’ illness. Amongst diseases which cause infertility, the most common disease is abnormal fallopian tube with the rate of 43 – 59 percent.
