The news was released by the three sides at a press brief yesterday. The program will start with an event “Healthy Liver – Happy life”. The program is under sponsor and direction of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the city’s Department of Health.
Event participants will undergo 2,000 free hepatitis B and C testing and screening carried out by Medic Clinic and drugs provided by globally well-known pharmaceutical firms.
Additionally, medical workers will directly explain test results at the event or answer questions relating to participants’ health matters. Besides, people will have chance to talk with leading medical workers including Professor Nguyen Chan Hung, Dr. Phan Thanh Hai, Professor Vu Thi Nhung, Dr. Vu Duy Thong about hepatitis B and C, liver cancer.
The event will take place on July 28 in Thong Nhat Palace at 135 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street in District 1. Anyone can register via bit.ly/GKSV2018 or bit.ly/SNVG2018
According to the World Health Organization and the World Hepatitis Alliance, 325 million people infect with liver hepatitis B and C virus in the globe. Worse, 300 million of them or over 90 percent don’t know that they catch the virus while the two viruses may cause cirrhosis and liver cancer and deaths.
Furthermore, mortality rate due to hepatitis within 15 years increased by 22 percent while other diseases such as HIV, tuberculosis and malaria dropped. Accordingly, the fight against hepatitis B and C is urgent.
