The US dollar exchange rate continued to increase on December 14, hitting the highest-allowed price of VND22,547 per dollar.
Particularly, Vietinbank bought dollars at VND22,475 per dollar and sold at VND22,547 per dollar, an increase of VND20 per dollar in buying price and VND22 per dollar in selling price.
Vietcombank raised VND15 per dollar in buying rate and VND17 per dollar in selling rate to VND22,475 per dollar and VND22,547 per dollar respectively.
ACB purchased the green-back currency at VND22,487 per dollar and sold at VND22,547 per dollar, adding VND12 per dollar in buying rate and VND22 per dollar in selling rate.
Eximbank collected dollars at VND22,510 per dollar, up VND50 per dollar, and sold at VND22,547 per dollar, up VND17 per dollar.
As banks have continuously raised buying rate, the gap between buying and selling rates remained below VND50 per dollar. Experts said that banks are collecting dollars on expect that the US Federal Reserve would raise benchmark interest rate in its meeting which will take place on December 15 and 16.
