More businesses in HCMC get cheap loans

A further 32 businesses in Ho Chi Minh City signed contracts with eight banks for loans totaling VND1.57 trillion (US$74.45 million) at 6-8 percent as part of an ongoing project by the State Bank of Vietnam’s city branch to link up lenders and businesses.

The businesses are all based in Phu Nhuan District.

More than 330 firms in 10 districts have got loans worth VND8 trillion (US$380 million) under the program, according to Nguyen Hoang Minh, deputy director of the branch.

Besides the eight banks that have signed up for the program, the central bank has invited others. The eight are Sacombank, Vietcombank, ABBank, BIDV, Agribank, Eximbank, DongA Bank, and ACB.

The project is expected to be completed in all 24 districts by June.
