Mr. Kishimoto Yoshio, Director-General of Kyushu Bureau of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, on February 22 led a delegation of more than 30 Japanese businesses to visit and seek investment opportunities at Hiep Phuoc Industrial Zone in Ho Chi Minh City’s Nha Be District.
At the working session, Mr. Vu Van Hoa, head of the city’s Export Processing Zone Authority's management Board, said that 17 export processing zones and industrial zones in the city have been put into operation and so far attracted 1,300 projects with total investment capital of US$9 billion.
Foreign direct investment businesses accounted for 559 projects with total investment of $5.4 billion. Japan is currently the leading country in investment capital pumped into the city’s export processing zones and industrial zones with 119 projects costing $1.3 billion.
Mr. Kishimoto Yoshio said that there is a strong development in Vietnam’s economy, especially after the country has successfully negotiated some trade agreements. This is also the reason prompting Japanese businesses to promote economic cooperation with Vietnam.
