Being a mountainous province on the border between Vietnam and Cambodia, the Southern Province of Binh Phuoc has a community of 41 ethnic minorities with 195,635 people accounting for nearly 20 percent of the country’s population. Since the poverty reduction program to help 1,000 poor ethnic minority households escape impoverishment has been implemented in the province, inhabitants have been granted land, house, and loan support. Subsequently, with their efforts, many poor ethnic minority households have escaped poverty sustainably.
