The popular use of social networks nowadays offers a great way for news to spread widely and quickly. That is why, more than ever, fake news and rumors have so strong a power to damage not only the national economy, finance, agriculture but also the national security and safety. Many companies are on the verge of bankruptcy due to such news. This is the conclusion in yesterday’s discussion ‘Protecting Businesses against Fake News’, held by the Government Portal.
Fake news posted on the cyber space, particularly on social networks, has seriously confused Internet users especially in terms of the work of local authorities. Therefore, leaders of each district in Ho Chi Minh City have cooperated with related functional units to implement practical solutions to eliminate these harmful news pieces.
Many residents in Ho Chi Minh City have reported that since this July, the procedure to obtain a chip-based citizen ID card has been greatly reduced to 1-2 weeks, and they can directly receive their card from their local police officer. This has shown a tireless effort of the HCMC police force to better serve its residents.
