S.Korea names new trade minister

SEOUL, Dec 31, 2010 (AFP) - South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak on Friday named a presidential aide with expertise in fiscal policy as new trade minister in a cabinet reshuffle.

SEOUL, Dec 31, 2010 (AFP) - South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak on Friday named a presidential aide with expertise in fiscal policy as new trade minister in a cabinet reshuffle.

Choi Joong-Kyung, senior presidential secretary for economic affairs, will be the country's knowledge economy minister in charge of trade and industry.

He takes over from Choi Kyung-Hwan, a ruling party lawmaker who had been minister since September 2009.

Choi Joong-Kyung, who has served for many years at the finance ministry, worked at the World Bank between 2005 and 2008.
