Police from Chau Thanh District in the northern province of Nghe An revoked 19 fake resistance war medals on July 29 and detained four men involved in a ring that makes counterfeit resistance war medals.
Police also prepared file lawsuits against those involved.
Four men of the counterfeiters include ringleader Chu Van Kinh, 32, a resident of Dien Dong Commune, Dien Chau District, Tran Minh Chau, 60, Dang Trong Dieu, 57, and Nguyen Tien Khai, 64; three of them are from Yen Thanh District.
On July 26, police caught Dieu, resident of Long Thanh Commune, distributing ten Class I resistance war medals to people of the Khanh Thanh Commune.
Dieu was paid VND500,000 – 600,000 (US$25-30) for each medal from receivers.
At the investigation office, Chau, resident of the Long Thanh Commune, admitted he was offered to produce medals for VND200,000 ($10) apiece by Khai and Dieu.
Chau planned to resell medals at a profit, per Dieu’s suggestion.
Khai gave himself up when police summoned him.
Police now seek to arrest the ringleader Kinh.
