Mr. Doan Van Tien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Quoc City of Kien Giang Province, Head of the Enforcement Committee for dismantling works infringing in Phu Quoc marine protected area in Ham Ninh Commune, on October 31, said that the investor had dismantled his construction project himself.
Since 2010, the surface area of forests in Phu Quoc City of Kien Giang Province has continuously decreased to only 37,000ha now. At present, the city is trying its best to maintain this area despite encountering various challenges from illegal logging.
Phu Quoc is planned to be invested and developed as a unique island urban area; a center of tourism, resort and service with high quality and attractiveness to domestic and international tourists; a commercial center, service and healthcare center, and high-tech application center in accordance with regional and international levels.
