Japanese battleship Asahi arrives in Da Nang City for official visit

The Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force’s frigate Asahi has arrived in Da Nang City for a friendly visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation.

On the morning of April 2, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force frigate Asahi docked at Tien Sa Port, commencing a goodwill visit to Da Nang City.

The vessel carries a crew of 220 officers and sailors, led by Colonel Jio Takemasa, Commander of Escort Flotilla No. 2 of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.

During the visit from April 2 to April 5, the delegation will pay courtesy calls to leaders of the Da Nang City People’s Committee and the Naval Region 3 Command. Activities will also include sports exchanges with Vietnamese naval officers, joint exercises at sea, and cultural and tourism visits in the locality.

The visit by the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force delegation to Da Nang is expected to strengthen friendship and mutual trust, in line with the policy of promoting the Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which was upgraded in November 2023.
