A recent report by Vietnam Customs shows that the country’s trade deficit in the first ten months of this year was US$8.21 billion, down by 18 percent over the same period last year.
Vietnam’s accumulated exports in the first ten months topped $78.56 billion, up 35.5 percent year on year; meanwhile, total imports reached $86.77 billion, up 27.7 percent year on year.
Trade deficit was at $750 million in October, a drop of 33 percent year on year, and 50 percent over the previous month. Earlier, the General Statistics Office estimated that trade deficit would reach $800 million in October, sending trade deficit in the first ten months to $8.4 billion.
