The meeting was part of the HCMC delegation's official visit to Argentina and Mexico from March 18 to 28.
Addressing the meeting, Vice Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai said that HCMC and the state of Jalisco are both dynamic economic centers in the countries and the region. The cities have strong points to develop trade and cooperation. This similarity will be a favorable opportunity for the two sides to promote a cooperation relationship.
He believed that HCMC and Jalisco state has a lot of potentials to develop economic cooperation, especially in the context that Vietnam and Mexico are members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

He noted that the two sides have great potential for cooperation in the fields of technology and start-ups: tourism and food technology.
The HCMC’s leader hoped that businesses of Mexico and Jalisco state will take a visit to HCMC and learn about investment opportunities in the city. The people of the two countries and the two cities will better understand each other.
He expected the two sides will have cooperative products to mark the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - Mexico diplomatic ties in 2025.
Mr. Hai reiterated HCMC leaders’ invitation to leaders of Jalisco state to visit the city aiming to further enhance the comprehensive relationship and cooperation between the two sides.

For his part, Mayor of Guadalajara city in Mexico’s Jalisco, Enrique Ibarra Pedroza said that in 2022, the state launched policies to develop the city into Mexico's technology center, boost the development of high-tech human resources and expand the state’s largest port to receive goods from Asia. He hoped the two sides will step up high-level relations.
On the same day, the city’s delegation also met representatives of senators of Jalisco state and talked about activities of the House of Commons of Jalisco state and HCMC People’s Council, policies on developing the economy, supporting businesses affected by Covid-19 and collecting infrastructure fees.
Vice Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai affirmed that the southern metropolis is very interested in further promoting relations with Jalisco state towards implementing concrete corporation.
