In 2022, Vietnam had 14,790,075 ha of forest area, of which 10,134,082 ha were natural forests and 4,655,933 ha were planted ones, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced in a decision on June 20.
A project approved by the Prime Minister is for sustainable forest protection, restoration and development in the Central Highlands in an effort to stop the loss of forest coverage.
The Government of Vietnam has been implementing drastic measures to increase forest coverage in the Central Highlands region, while improving output of coffee and high value crops in easing deforestation.
Vietnam aims to raise its forest coverage to 41.6 percent and to earn US$8.5–9 billion from exporting wood and forestry products while providing jobs to 25 million people in 2018.
