The Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City, on the afternoon of September 24, informed that it had just submitted to the municipal People's Committee a plan to coordinate with provinces to welcome workers back to the city.
Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee announced the assignment of its Vice Chairman Le Hoa Binh to related state agencies to help major traffic projects in the city overcome their current obstacles as soon and effectively as possible.
In the face of severe traffic congestion in Southern areas, proposals to enhance the transport infrastructure based on authentic travelling needs were filed by HCMC Department of Transport to the city People’s Committee, said Mr. Tran Quang Lam, Director of the Department of Transport.
HCMC has set a target that 15-20 percent students of each educational institution in the city will use school bus by 2019-2020. However statistics show that the number of students using this service has been reducing.
“Private vehicle limit will be a must in HCMC in the upcoming time because traffic system development has been unable to catch up with the growth rate of private vehicles,” said director of the Department of Transport Bui Xuan Cuong.
