With great contributions to the development of Vietnamese football and the friendship between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) during the passing time, Korean Coach Park Hang-seo has been awarded the Order of Diplomatic Service Merit, Heungin Medal on the state dinner hosted by the RoK President for Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc last night.
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on February 8 hosted a reception for head coach of the Vietnamese men’s football team Park Hang-seo, and leaders of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST).
The Vietnamese football team still has 90 minutes left to turn the tables on Thailand to reach the final match of the 2020 AFF Cup. The 0-2 loss to Thailand in the first leg of the semi-finals poses an extremely tremendous challenge for Vietnam in this second leg. The team has to find a way to score goals and, at the same time, avoid conceding. Besides, Coach Park Hang-seo’s players need to have cool heads at the moment.
Through the performance of both Vietnamese and Thai football teams since the beginning of the AFF Cup tournament, from the strength of the force to the stability of the form, the upcoming face-off between them is forecasted to be the early final and the super classic match of Southeast Asia.
Starting from the 1995 SEA Games final, where Vietnam, despite a defeat of a high score of 0-4, has since become the biggest rival and challenged the leading position of Thailand in Southeast Asian football.
The competition between Vietnam and Malaysia in the group stage of this year's tournament is the reenactment of the final match of the 2018 AFF Cup. The fierceness of the previous three years remains intact because both teams want to prove who is the real "king" of the group stage.
The situation of the race in the qualifying groups is now almost settled when ten out of 11 leading teams have won direct tickets to the Final Round. The remaining direct spot to the finals will be decided after the match between U22 Vietnam and U22 Myanmar on the evening of November 2. Head coach of the Vietnam national football team Mr. Park Hang-seo and his Korean assistants returned to their houses in the capital city of Hanoi last night after they had completed 14-day quarantine requirement due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
