Based on the weather forecast and warnings for severe typhoon Rai, Standing Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan signed an urgent letter this afternoon to direct relevant ministries, agencies and localities on dealing with the tropical typhoon as it is forecast to move rapidly, enter the East Sea tonight and probably change its path near the coast with typhoon-force winds of levels 9 to 11.

The National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control informed that by 8:30 a.m. on December 1, ten people have died or remained missing in floods and torrential rains in the South-Central and Central Highlands regions, including three people in Binh Dinh, six in Phu Yen and one person in Kon Tum. 

After a conference on the works of dealing with the upcoming sixth storm of this year’s hurricane season this morning, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development cum Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control Nguyen Hoa Hiep has just sent an urgent letter to require the steering committees for coastal provinces and cities from Thanh Hoa to Binh Thuan, the Central Highlands provinces and nine relevant ministries to promptly deploy measures against the storm.
