German Seniors Assists Viet Nam Newspaper

Project Coordinator of Senior Experten Service (SES), the foundation of German industry for international cooperation, recently visited the SGGP office to study the newspaper’s operation, hoping for a better co-operation between the two sides.

A non-profit corporation in Germany SES is always looking for greater cooperation with Viet Nam . In just five years, Viet Nam has developed rapidly and changed into an industrious country with high percentage of young people, dynamic and hospitable, proving itself a potential area to be improved, Ms. Margret told SGGP reporter.

Ms. Margret Motejl, SES Project Coordinator in South East Asia and Mr. Ha Phuong, SES Representative Viet Nam, toured the editorial office of Viet Nam ’s official party newspaper. Both visitors were briefly introduced to the newspaper’s current operations by the Deputy Chief Editor of SGGP newspaper, Mr. Hoang Van Khang.

Addressing the meeting, Mr. Khang emphasized the potential improvement of the newspaper into a media conglomerate in the near future and expressed his need for technical support including modern printing technology, online data processing skills, especially for the preparation of the SGGP English version scheduled which came online by early 2006.

Also, the two sides continued to further discuss and signed an agreement according to  which SES will carry out the first step as in the near future sending a journalistic expert who will work together with SGGP and help the newspaper in its upcoming activities. 

Mr. Khang believed that the visit and support from SES will further increase the two organization’s mutual understanding and trust, enhancing the relations between the two organizations as well as the two countries.

Ms. Margret spends five days in Viet Nam and later. she also visits the Germany Ambassador in Ha Noi and to give presentations to make known of the SES to some major companies and institutions.

Launched in 1983 under the auspices of the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce with funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), SES supports many businesses, authorities, public institutions as well as international organizations.

Working on an honorary basis and with financial independence, senior experts train skilled workers and executive staff with an aim to make contributions by passing on their knowledge and talents to others at home as well as abroad.

Senior experts, who come from over 50 areas of trade and industry and spent many years of professional and life experience, have reportedly carried out more than 14,000 assignments in 152 countries.

“I believe it is our very good chance to cooperate with SGGP newspaper, thanks to very good relations between Viet Nam and German so far. Last year we had 30 assignments in Viet Nam and the experts reported that Vietnamese people were very eager to learn and really appreciated their contribution to the country. Thus, it was a pleasure for them to have worked in Viet Nam.” said Ms. Margret Motejl before she left the news room of SGGP.
