“Doll’s House” is a program jointly organized by news agencies and the Youth Unions of Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Can Tho Provinces to bring the joy to poor children. As first, the program is organized in Ho Chi Minh City. Later on, it will be carried out in Dong Nai and Can Tho.

A meeting was held on late April 6, 2006 for the organizers of the Doll’s House program operated jointly by the Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper, Ho Chi Minh City Television, Dong Nai Radio and Television, Khan Quang Do magazine, Dong Nai Province Children House, Can Tho City Communist Youth Union and AD Advertising Company in Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper Office.

“Doll’s House” is an initiative offered by the Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper to have old dolls collected, tuned up and then displayed on offer to poor children in Ho Chi Minh City on June 1, the International Children Day.

The People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province, Dong Nai Radio and Television, the People’s Committee of Can Tho Province and Can Tho City Communist Youth Union also want to organize a similar program in their localities.

Three programs in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Can Tho Provinces have now been initiated and will be telecast live on Television on June 1, 2006.

The meeting was attended by the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Training and Education, Ho Chi Minh City Businessmen Association, Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company, Dong Nai Province Children House and several other units.

Musician Truong Quang Luc said that after the organization board sent the invitation to him, he was touched by the idea and composed a song for the program, with two concluding sentences unofficially translated as “Doll’s house, doll’s house, my dream comes true. Doll’ house, doll’s house, the happy day that I love”.

Previously, there was also a meeting between representatives of the Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper and Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Training and Education to launch the program at schools throughout the city.
