Vietnam’s health authorities announced they have expanded the emergency use authorisation for Moderna Covid-19 vaccine (Spikevax) to include children from 6 to under 12 years old.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 3 (local time) met with Managing Director of the COVAX Facility Aurélia Nguyen, during which he thanked the COVAX program for its commitment to providing Vietnam with 38.9 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines free of charge in 2021, including nearly 23 million doses delivered to the country.
Vietnam receives additional 3,000,060 doses of Covid-19 Moderna vaccine donated through the COVAX Facility by the United States Government, of which, 1,499,960 arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on July 24 and 1,500,100 doses will arrive in Hanoi the next day.
The Vietnamese Party, State, Government and people always treasure the practical and timely support of international friends during the Covid-19 fight, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Vietnam so far has contractually secured about 105 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine, 38.9 million of which funded by COVAX, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue asked for the European Union (EU) assistance to Vietnam’s efforts to access European COVID-19 vaccine sources while receiving Ambassador Giorgio Aliberti, Head of the EU Delegation to Vietnam, in Hanoi on May 21.
Besides the Covid-19 vaccines AstraZeneca Vietnam ordered and COVAX donated, to get enough vaccine for all indicated citizens, Vietnam needs to acquire 150 doses this year, said the Ministry of Health.
