Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) and Hung A Joint Stock Company have signed a contract to build a 500 bed VNU-HCM Hospital at the university campus.

The hospital will be built on an area of 87,000 sq. m with at a cost of US$67 million, with a research center and more than $41 million worth of medical equipment.
According to Dr. Huynh Thanh Dat, deputy director of VNU-HCM, the hospital will have an intensive health care unit, high-tech services and will be able to serve more than 500,000 patients per year.
Moreover, the hospital will have a research center as well as a training centre where medical students and graduates from the Faculty of Medicine can receive training in accordance with modern international methods.
The project will be implemented from 2012 to 2015.
A VND100 million (approx. US$4,760) Scholarship Fund for VNU-HCM students has also been set up.
