Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index slightly inched up on July 25 as some blue-chip stocks rebounded. Trading volume sank to 28-month low as investors neglected.
The shares of 294 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange rose 0.04 percent, or 0.16 points, to close at 409.36 points.
Across the electronic board, 65 stocks climbed, 140 dropped, while 94 remained unchanged.
Trading on the city bourse fell by 21 percent in volume, and 32 percent in value over the previous trading session as 14.93 million shares changed hands at a value of VND252 billion.
Saigon Thuong Tin Joint Stock Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB), the fourth largest listed lender, was the most active share in volume with 922,740 shares changing hands.
Construction company Licogi 16 Joint Stock Company (LCG) took the second rank with 420,100 shares traded.
Ho Chi Minh City-based Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (REE) finished third with 407,720 shares traded.
OPC Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (OPC) rebounded 4.86 percent to close at VND36,700.
Vinpearl Joint Stock Company (VPL), Ca Mau Frozen Seafood Processing Import Export Corporation (CMX), and Gia Lai Sugar - Thermal Power Joint Stock Company (SEC) grew 4.76 percent to VND66,000, VND6,600, and VND22,000 respectively.
Vietnam Container Shipping Joint Stock Company (VSC) reclaimed 4.69 percent to VND33,500.
Full Power Joint Stock Company (FPC) and newly listed Phu Tai Joint Stock Company (PTB) plunged the daily maximum allowed limit of 5 percent to VND1,900, and VND15,200 respectively.
Becamex Asphalt & Concrete Joint Stock Company (ACC) declined for seven consecutive days, giving up 4.97 percent to VND17,200.
Everpia Vietnam Joint Stock Company (EVE) shed 4.95 percent to VND34,600.
The Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller in the north declined for three days in a row, closing down 0.92 percent, or 0.65 points, to finish at 70.23 points. Trading volume on the northern market was at nearly 16.4 million shares worth VND203.95 billion.
The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares tumbled 1 percent, or 0.32 points, to 31.57 points. A total of 100,617 shares changed hands at a value of VND782 million as of 2:30 pm local time.
