Vietnam will have ten hi-tech applied agricultural zones by 2020, according to a master plan passed by the Prime Minister recently.
Besides Hau Giang and Phu Yen zones that have been approved, eight others would be built in Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Can Tho. Local authorities have already made decisions to establish these zones.
By 2020, hi-tech coffee growing areas will concentrate in the Central Highlands, the northwest, and the north central while tea growing areas will be in Thai Nguyen and Lam Dong provinces.
The hi-tech production of dragon fruits will locate in Binh Thuan, vegetables and flowers in Lao Cai, Hanoi, Hai Phong, HCMC and Lam Dong, and other main export fruits in the southeast and Mekong Delta.
Dairy farms applying hi-tech will position in Son La, Hanoi, Nghe An and Lam Dong. The northern and southern regions will specialize in pig and shrimp farming.
