Vietnam Int’l Piano Contest returns for second time

The 2nd Vietnam International Piano Contest, for discovering and supporting talented young classical musicians at home and from foreign countries, will be held at the Vietnam National Academy of Music in Hanoi from September 4 to 11.

The 2nd Vietnam International Piano Contest, for discovering and supporting talented young classical musicians at home and from foreign countries, will be held at the Vietnam National Academy of Music in Hanoi from September 4 to 11.

In all, 52 contestants, aged from 10-25 years, from nine countries around the world will participate in three categories A, B and C.

This year, Vietnamese candidates will come from the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, Hue Academy of Music and Hanoi College of Fine Arts.

The famous Vietnamese pianist Dang Thai Son will act as the Honorary Chairman and Artistic Director of the competition.

The jury includes distinguished professors and musicians from Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, the US, France, Macedonia and Poland.

The first competition was organized in 2010 with 60 contestants, aged between 10-23 years from 10 countries. It was listed as one of the top ten most significant cultural events of 2010.
