The Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index retreated the second day on June 23 as investors lost confidence amid poor liquidity.
The gauge of 286 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange split 1.11 percent, or 4.88 points, to close at 434.75 points.
On the benchmark, 53 stocks rallied, 168 sank, while 70 remained unchanged.
Trading volume on the city bourse reduced by 20 percent in volume, and 50 percent in value over the previous trading session as 19.97 million shares changed hands at a value of VND318 billion.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, remained the most active share by volume with 990,360 shares changing hands.
Transport Engineering Construction & Business Investment Joint Stock Company 584 (NTB) tagged along with 718,630 shares traded.
PetroVietnam General Services Joint Stock Corporation (PET) finished third with 628,300 shares.
Taicera Enterprise Company (TCR) dived 10.39 percent to close at VND6,900.
Other losers on the city bourse included Alphanam Joint Stock Company (ALP), Hoang Long Group (HLG), and Thu Duc Water Supply Joint Stock Company (TDW). They all cut 5 percent to VND9,500, VND13,300, and VND7,600 respectively.
Khang An Investment Real Estate Joint Stock Company (KAC) jumped 5 percent to VND18,900.
Saigon Fuel Joint Stock Company (SFC) regained 4.85 percent to close at VND21,600.
Seaprodex Refrigeration Industry Corporation (SRF) sprang 4.8 percent to close at VND26,200.
The Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller in the north also shelved 1.51 percent, or 1.15 points, to finish at 75.25 points. Trading on the northern market was down by 31 percent in both volume and value over the previous trading session as 26.38 million shares worth VND322.23 billion changed hands.
Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares gave up 0.39 points, or 1.19 percent, to 32.3 points. A total of 361,250 shares changed hands at a value of VND4.62 billion as of 11:30 am local time.
