A nearly ten hour traffic jam occurred in Hanoi Highway, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City on May 9. Traffic police in the area said that the congestion began about 2-3 a.m.

By 4 p.m., lines of vehicles were seen inch up along the 10 kilometer route Hanoi Highway-Mai Chi Tho-Dong Van Cong-Nguyen Thi Dinh to get in Cat Lai port.
Container truck driver Nguyen Canh said that he waited since 3 a.m. until noon to be able to enter the port.
A customs official at Cat Lai Port said that the traffic jam was caused by cargo trucks that had streamed to the port for the last one week, when businesses returned to work after the week long holiday.
In addition, Phu My Bridge roundabout has been a ‘hot’ traffic jam spot in the area in peak hours.
