As Covid-19 cases increased, the Vietnamese Prime Minister requested to strictly and effectively implement a vaccination campaign in accordance with the direction of the Government, the Prime Minister, and the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 prevention and control, completing vaccination roll-out for all ages according to the guidance of the Ministry of Health.

The country recorded 72,324 cases of Covid-19 in August 2022, an increase of 2.4 times, and 24 deaths, an increase of 18 cases compared to July 2022. In the country, cases of infection with sub-variants BA.4, BA.5, and BA.2.74 have been recorded in the community, especially the sub-variant BA.5 is dominating among the cases.

Deputy Health Minister Do Xuan Tuyen suggested that it is necessary to continue to take measures to prevent Covid-19 as well as strengthen vaccination for groups at risk of infections to cope with sub-variants of Omicron.

Ho Chi Minh City still has enough covid-19 vaccine; therefore, it is willing to distribute to neighboring provinces for vaccination roll-out, said Nguyen Hong Tam, deputy director of the city's Center for Disease Control (HCDC) at a periodical press brief yesterday organized by the city Steering Board for Prevention and Control of Covid-19.
