The Ministry of Education and Training directed not to carry out unnecessary Covid-19 tests on students especially preschoolers because some localities require all students to undergo Covid-19 tests paid by parents before going to schools directly, causing parents’ negative reactions.

At a press conference about the 2021 high school graduation exam organized by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Vice Chairman Duong Anh Duc said that students are required to be tested for Covid-19 prior to the exams.

In its temporary guidance on the implementation of Covid-19 testing in districts and Thu Duc city, the Department of Health in Ho Chi Minh City directed localities not to carry out periodic Covid-19 tests in wards, communes, or districts.

Many localities nationwide reported new Delta variant cases of Covid-19 in the community.

This morning, the Ho Chi Minh-based Children Hospital No.1 announced to stop admit inpatients in section C from July 2 over the discovery of Covid-19 patients and their relatives.

Just one day, Ho Chi Minh City yesterday detected 667 suspected Covid-19 cases and most of them are in quarantine wards, Director of the city Department of Health Professor Nguyen Tan Binh said at a meeting on Friday afternoon.

According to the Ministry of Health’s guidelines, five groups of people are entitled to get their coronavirus testing free of charge.
