Health watchdog urged the health sector in the Central Highlands Province of Dak Lak to quarantine the monkeypox suspected case to curb the spread to local medical workers while waiting for test results.
According to Dr. Nguyen Luong Tam, Deputy Director of the Department of Preventive Medicine under the Ministry of Health, after detecting the first case of monkeypox in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Health decided to set up six inspection teams in six localities.
Amid the growing concerns over monkeypox, a Vietnamese woman who was Vietnam's first patient infected with the virus, has recovered from the disease. The 35-year old was being treated at Ho Chi Minh City-based Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
Today, following the complicated developments of monkeypox in the world, the Drug Administration of Vietnam under the Ministry of Health sent a document to drug and medicinal ingredient manufacturers to increase the import of drugs as well as carry out research and production of medicine to treat monkeypox.
Today, in its dispatch, the Department of Preventive Medicine under the Ministry of Health asked institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Pasteur institute, and health departments in provinces and centrally-run cities to strengthen supervision and prevention of monkeypox following the continuous increase in monkeypox cases in many countries around the world.
The Ministry of Health asked the Peoples’ Committee of provinces and cities to delegate the health departments and relevant units to impose strict inspections on arrivals at border gates to identify suspected cases of monkeypox.
