A program was launched on August 14 titled ‘For Truong Sa Students’, by the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund and Phap Luat Newspaper in Ho Chi Minh City, calling on sponsors to support children living on Truong Sa Lon Island.
According to the head of the program, Ms. Truong My Hoa, former Vice State President and currently Chairwoman of the Vu A Dinh Fund, the program will call on local and foreign individuals, organizations and enterprises to build a school for young students on Truong Sa Island.
The school will cover an area of around 300 square meters with six class rooms from pre-school to 5th grade, a room for teachers, a library, a playing field, restrooms and a freshwater reservoir at a total cost of about VND10 billion (US$ 476,000).
The organizers will build two schools on Sinh Ton and Song Tu Tay islands.
On the launch day, the program received more than VND5 billion from sponsors.
