Fields Medal winner Professor Ngo Bao Chau will save more time teaching at home in the future and take part in the establishment of the Advanced Mathematical Research Institute to be built in coming time.
The young mathematician will donate his cash prize of US$14,500 to an education promotion fund named Ngo Bao Chau that would be founded in the future.
After the welcoming ceremony at the My Dinh National Convention Center on August 29, the professor visited his grandfather’s birthplace in Tao Khe commune, Hanoi’s Ung Hoa District on August 30.
He will leave Vietnam for the US on September 5 for teaching at Chicago University. The mathematician accepted the appointment to become a professor of maths at the American university as of September 1, 2010.
