Since 5pm Tuesday, petrol and oil prices further increased by VND500-1,100 for a liter, marking a third hike since June.

According to the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) and Saigon Petrol Company, the new price on Ron 95 and Ron 92 gasoline will be VND23,500 and VND23,000 per liter respectively, up by VND500-800 on each liter.
Kerosene and diesel prices went up by VND800 and VND750 to reach VND21,450 and VND21,550 a liter.
Engine oil price also soared by VND500 to touch VND18,650 a kilogram.
Petrolimex, the country’s largest fuel company, said that the price of petrol has been hiked because of increase in world petrol and oil products.
Some businesses said that the petrol price surge is partly due to interruption at Dung Quat, the country’s sole oil refinery, caused by some technical faults.
Since the beginning of the year, petrol and oil prices have edged up five times totaling VND5,400 and slashed five times totaling VND3,200.
