At the National Assembly Standing Committee session on April 13, Truong Thi Mai, head of the NA Committee for Social Affairs, read a report on policies and priorities that support all those who contributed to the revolution.
The Committee report stated that priority policies for people who had contributed to the revolution had been perfected and had covered most of its objectives.
In addition, Ms. Mai stressed that priority policies for those who had contributed to the revolution are an important guideline for the party and the Government of Vietnam. All provinces and cities had completed their plans for building houses for those who contributed to the revolution by end of 2011.
In recent years, provinces and cities nationwide have constantly lent support and care to people or families of those who sacrificed their lives for the country.
However, inspection and communication activities should be further intensified nationwide in an effort to improve the policy's implementation, stated the report.
The implementing of policies relating to people who had contributed to the revolution would focus on handling obstacles, housing, improving the lives of contributors and search for martyrs’ remains in different provinces, she added.
Allowance levels had been adjusted regularly in accordance with the country's socio-economic development. Contributors to the revolution or their families also received support in health care, housing, education, jobs training and tax exemption.
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said priority policies should ensure that people who had contributed to the revolution would have adequate food, clothing, housing, education and healthcare services.
He said a resolution should be made by the National Assembly, focusing on policies and priorities relating to those who had contributed to the revolution.
Besides it is necessary to speed up programmes for building houses for contributors to the revolution and in searching for the remains of martyrs’, stated Chairman Hung.
According to the report, more than 8.8 million people have been confirmed as contributors to the revolution and more than 1.4 million were already receiving monthly allowance from the Government.
